Industrial Revolutions

We head to Ironbridge, birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and site of the world’s first iron bridge, built across the River Severn between 1711-81. We explore the valley, get a chance to cross the famous bridge, and visit the fascinating museum of Blists Hill Victorian Town (admission included) for a wonderful insight into how our Victorian ancestors lived and worked.

‘River in the Sky’

Today we head deep into Welsh Border Country crossing into Wales to visit the pretty town of Llangollen, set on the banks of the River Dee and famous for its international music festival - Eisteddfod. There is plenty of time to explore before we board our boat for a journey across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (ticket included) – the highest and longest cast iron aqueduct in the world - simply known as the ‘River in the Sky’.

Shropshire Secrets

This morning we drive to Shrewsbury, one of England’s finest Tudor towns, where there is time for sightseeing at leisure. Then we head deep into the heart of Shropshire, surrounded by the Long Mynd and Wenlock Edge, to the border town of Ludlow, one of Britain’s loveliest medieval towns.
