The Coastline of Castles

A full day tour exploring Northumbria’s Heritage Coastline as we make our way to Holy Island (subject to tidal conditions), known locally as Lindisfarne and famed for being the birthplace of English Christianity. Then it’s onto Bamburgh, where the mighty castle sits high on a crag above the sea.

The Angel & a Tyne City

To one of the modern wonders of the North - The Angel of the North, before visiting the charismatic city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Roman Monuments & a Cathedral City*

This morning we head for Durham with its ancient links with Viking invasions and the monks of Lindisfarne. There will be plenty of time to explore the magnificent Norman cathedral which towers above a loop in the River Wear, or just wander through the delightful cobbled, medieval streets. This afternoon we follow some of the route taken by Hadrian’s Wall, on our way to Hexham with its stately Abbey and Roman influences.
