Included Sightseeing Excursions

Northern Landscapes

Today our full day excursion explores the rugged and rolling hills of the Northern Lakelands. First to Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth, before passing the clear waters of Bassenthwaite Lake to reach the market town of Keswick, set beside the shores of lovely Derwentwater. This afternoon we reach Grasmere, a delightful ‘Lakes’ village, before ascending the stunning Kirkstone Pass to Ullswater.

Legends of the Lakes

We make our way to Coniston, overlooked by the craggy Old Man of Coniston Mountain before heading to the ever-popular Bowness-on-Windermere, probably the most visited tourist haunt, with its quaint alleyways and lively quay. We continue on to Lakeside at the foot of Lake Windermere where there is the opportunity to complete
the day with an optional cruise on the lake.

Lakeland Rails

This morning we drive south along the coast to Ravenglass where we join the famous miniature Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway through Eskdale. We return to Whitehaven where there is free time at leisure. A visit to the Whitehaven Rum Story is recommended, set in the original 1785 shop, cellars and bonded warehouses.
