'Windsor of the North'

Today we make our way to the market town of Alnwick and visit Alnwick Castle and Gardens - the vision and triumphal achievement of the Duchess of Northumberland. Here the amazing gardens and water features surround the majestic castle that dominates the Northumbrian landscape. The castle itself is well known for being a TV and film location, most notably as Hogwarts in the successful Harry Potter films.

Heritage Coast

Today we discover Northumbria’s heritage coastline as we make our way to Lindisfarne, or more commonly known as Holy Island, said to be the birthplace of Christianity. We return to the mainland and to the beautiful small resort of Bamburgh, where the famous castle overlooks the expansive sandy dunes and golden beach. We complete our day in Seahouses, a bustling little harbour village and gateway to the nearby Farne Islands.
