Snowdonia Railway Journeys & Roman Chester 2021

Beaufort Park Hotel

Highlights: Llanberis, Chester, Ffestiniog Railway, Betws-y-Coed, Welsh Highland Railway, Snowdonia National Park, Caernarfon

The imposing slopes of Mount Snowdon dominate the skyline of the Snowdonia National Park. There’s no finer way to take-in the sheer scale and beauty of this region than by rail, and one of the highlights of this holiday is an unforgettable 40 mile train journey from Ffestiniog to Caernarfon aboard the recently linked Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway. We have also included some wonderful scenic coach touring and, for good measure, a visit to Chester, one of Britain’s finest Roman cities.

Great Rail Journeys

A full day excursion as we make our way to Blaenau Ffestiniog where we join the famous Ffestiniog Railway as it winds through 14 miles of the Vale of Ffestiniog to the seaside resort of Porthmadog. Here we change trains to the Welsh Highland Railway - a long-lost narrow gauge railway re-opened in 2012 - for a 25 mile scenic journey to historic Caernarfon with its magnificent castle, guarding the entrance to the Menai Straits.

Foothills of Snowdon

A full day excursion into the Snowdonia National Park as we take the spectacular coast road via the lovely Vale of Conwy to the mountain village of Betws-y-Coed, famous for its local crafts and spectacular waterfalls. Driving through the heart of the park we come to the memorable Llanberis Pass which we descend to reach the popular town of Llanberis, set at the foot of Mount Snowdon.

Roman Chester

A full day to the historic cathedral city of Chester with its Roman origins and lovely half-timbered buildings, old red sandstone walls, and fine shops in the unique two-level galleried arcades known as the Rows.

Please note that entrances and excursions are correct at time of publication but may change given exceptional circumstances.
