Excursions

Palace of the Peaks
Driving deep into the Peak District we make our way to the wonderful surrounds of Chatsworth House and its equally delightful gardens. The interior rooms are a treasure trove of grandeur and the gardens feature the famous cascade, falling 200 yards down the hillside, along with sculptures, lakes and an amazing maze! We return via the pretty town of Bakewell, famous for its puddings which are sold in the local bakeries.

Delightful Dovedale
A morning tour into the gentle vales of Dovedale to reach the picturesque village of Hartington. Afterwards we return to Buxton for free time. 

Peaks & Puddings
Today we discover the High Peak with a memorable journey over the spectacular Snake Pass which rises 1,680 feet between Kinder Scout and Bleaklow Hill. Passing Ladybower Reservoir - the practice area for the ‘Dambuster’ raids of WW11 - we reach the popular tourist centre of Castleton, surrounded by ‘showcaves’ where the famous Blue John Stone is mined. 

Palace Hotel

The grand, landmark hotel is situated in the centre of Buxton within its own grounds and a short walk to the attractive Crescent and Buxton Park. Hotel facilities include a buffet restaurant and a lounge bar as well as a leisure centre with indoor pool, sauna, steam room and gym (local charges apply). All bedrooms have private facilities, TV, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities, plus a lift.
