The Coastline of Castles
A full day tour exploring Northumbria’s Heritage Coastline as we make our way to Holy Island (subject to tidal conditions), known locally as Lindisfarne and famed for being the birthplace of English Christianity. Then it’s onto Bamburgh, where the mighty castle sits high on a crag above the sea.
‘Windsor of the North’
To the market town of Alnwick to visit Alnwick Castle and Gardens. The castle itself is well known for being a TV and film location, most notably as Hogwarts in the successful Harry Potter films, while the gardens are the vision of the Duchess of Northumberland and regarded as some of the finest in the country.
Roman Monuments & a Cathedral City
This morning to Hexham with its stately Abbey and Roman influences before we head for Durham with plenty of time to explore the magnificent Norman cathedral which towers above a loop in the River Wear, or just wander through the delightful cobbled, medieval streets.
