Excursions

Ancient Canterbury and Kent Coastline
A full day tour, first to Canterbury, encircled by a medieval city wall and dominated by its historic cathedral along with pretty parks, gardens and historic buildings around almost every corner. In the afternoon we tour the North Kent coast including Whitstable, famous for its oysters, and the revitalised seaside resort of Margate.

Battle of Britain & Steaming along the Marshes
This morning we head up onto the cliffs above Folkestone and to the little village of Capel-le-Ferne where we visit the Battle of Britain Memorial. This National Memorial to the Few is in a glorious location atop the famous White Cliffs of Dover and offers superb views across the Channel to France. We continue to the Cinque Port town of Hythe, where a walk along the handsome Victorian promenade lined with its lovely shingle beach is a delight. Here we join the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway for a nostalgic steam train journey, with the English Channel on one side and Romney Marshes on the other.
