Excursions
Sunday: From local joining points we head to our overnight stop.
Monday: Crossing the border into Scotland we reach the Highlands and our base in Aviemore.
Tuesday: A marvellous full day tour of Loch Ness and Inverness today. First driving along the eastern banks of Loch Ness we reach Fort Augustus at the head of Loch Ness before touring the western shore to Drumnadrochit, passing the much photographed Urquhart Castle. This afternoon we enjoy free time in Inverness, the so-called capital of the Highlands.
Wednesday: A full day excursion to discover the beauty of the Spey Valley today, visiting Grantown-on-Spey before continuing to Aberlour, before returning via the Moray Firth and the Elgin – Scotland’s smallest city.
Thursday: An extended half day excursion through the Highlands to the tourist centre of Pitlochry where its famous fish ladder is a popular draw. We then head to Queen’s View – Queen Victoria’s favourite vista – with breathtaking views across Loch Tummel and the surrounding mountains.
Friday: We leave Aviemore behind and return across the border to our overnight stop.
Saturday: Our Highland adventure draws to a close as we return home.
Coylumbridge Hotel
Set in 65 acres of woodland estate, this hotel is just a few minutes drive from the centre of Aviemore and offers a host of amenities including a lounge, bar, buffet restaurant, coffee stand, American diner, gardens and terrace. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities, TV, hairdryer and hairdryer. The hotel also has an indoor swimming pool, gym & spa (local charges apply) along with an outdoor discovery centre, mini-golf, tennis court. Also, there is not a lift but ground and first floor rooms are available.
