Dartmoor & Drake’s Tavistock
A full day excursion onto the wild expanse of Dartmoor keeping a look-out for the famous ponies as we travel deep into the heart of this wonderful National Park with visits to Princetown, famous for Dartmoor prison, and to the attractive Victorian town of Tavistock. Here the famous seafarer Sir Francis Drake was born, whose statue stands proudly in the town and where the purpose built pannier market is considered to be the best in the region.
Torbay Ports
A trip to the once prosperous port town of Dartmouth, whose naval tradition goes back to medieval times when the port was one of the busiest in England. Nowadays the harbour is filled with yachts and pleasure boats with appealing streets winding down to the Dart Estuary. This afternoon we head to the busy fishing port of Brixham, where life has as always centred around the harbour. Here yachts and trawlers jostle for space with the many dayboats heading out to sea for the day’s catch.
A Roman city
An extended half day visit to the Roman city of Exeter, one of the oldest cities in England, founded over 2,000 years ago and a delight to explore with its impressive cathedral, easy centre and walks along the banks of the River Exe.
